3D Christmas Reindeer Art
In this Christmas craft activity for kids, we will create a 3D reindeer art piece. To make this cute reindeer with a red nose, children will use half foam balls, paint, and pipe cleaners.
During the activity, children will learn to handle a glue gun like the grown-ups, and they will be very proud of that!
Activity to be done with the help of an adult.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make a reindeer, you need:
- A wooden support 18 cm
- A half-ball made of polystyrene Ø 9.5 cm
- A wooden pawn (Ø 3 cm)
- A large fabric bow
- Two movable eyes Ø 2.5 cm
- Two brown chenilles 30 cm
- Star stickers
- Scrabble stickers
- Paint (dark blue, brown, red) and a paintbrush
- Screwing eye hooks
- Linen thread
- A glue gun
- A pair of scissors
Step 1:
To start, paint:
- the round wooden base in dark blue
- the half-sphere in polystyrene in brown
- the wooden pawn in red
Let it dry for 30 minutes.
Step 2:
Glue the 4 cm Ø polystyrene half-ball onto the 10 cm Ø half-ball and then attach the whole assembly to the wooden base.
Tip: use a hot glue gun for instant adhesion.
Step 3:
Glue two moving eyes Ø 2.5 cm.
Step 4:
Glue a large fabric bow just above the movable eyes.
Step 5:
To form the reindeer antlers, take two brown caterpillars of 30 cm.
- Cut two pieces of 10 cm for the base of the antlers.
- Cut 4 pieces of 5 cm to create the 'extensions' of the antlers.
Step 6:
Push the pipe cleaners into the polystyrene half-ball.
Step 7:
Stick star stickers around the reindeer (leaving a free space below it for the scrabble stickers).
Step 8 :
Stick the scrabble stickers under the reindeer to form "Merry Christmas".
Step 9:
Note: this step may require the assistance of an adult.
Screw 2 metal hooks onto the edge of the wooden support.
Attach a string to each hook so that you can hang your creation.
