Chick with a Slice of Wood
For this easy Easter craft, children will learn to transform simple slices of wood into adorable little chicks !
Nothing could be easier: just glue on colorful feathers and patterned paper to create the wings and belly, add a pair of fun googly eyes, and finish it off with a pretty fabric bow for a lovely touch.
A creative Easter activity accessible from age 3, perfect for welcoming spring… and proudly hanging in the Easter tree !
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To carry out this activity, you will need:
- a slice of wood (Ø 8 to 11 cm)
- colored feathers
- a sheet of thick orange paper
- Easter patterned paper, A4 size
- yellow paint and a brush
- a fabric knot
- 2.5 cm mobile eyes
- screw-in hooks
- cord
- white glue
- a pair of scissors
Step 1:
Using a brush, paint a slice of wood with yellow acrylic paint.
Let the paint dry for 15 minutes.
Step 2:
Place the wooden slice base on a patterned card, then trace the outline using a pencil. Next, cut out the sheet following the outline.
Step 3:
Glue the rounded shape onto the base of the wooden slice along with two googly eyes Ø 2.5 cm.
Step 4:
Cut out the chick's beak from a sheet of orange paper, then glue it under the googly eyes with white glue.
Step 5:
Using white glue, attach a feather to each side of the edge of the wood to form the chick's wings. Then, glue a fabric bow to add a cute touch.
Step 6:
And finally, screw a hook into the edge of the log (above the eyes). Then attach a piece of string so that you can hang your creation in the Easter tree.
