Materials needed:
- Plastiroc air-drying clay (1kg) + 4 tealight candles + adhesive googly eyes + orange and black pipe cleaners + orange acrylic paint
Creation time:
- Modeling + painting: 1 hour
- Drying: 24 hours

How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Step 1
Divide the block of Plastiroc into four equal parts, then shape each portion into a large ball.
Step 2
Place a candle in the center of each ball, and gently adjust the shape between your hands if it slightly deforms.
Tip: for safe use, you can choose LED candles in your lanterns!
Step 3
Use a stick or the handle of a brush to create five bands around the ball to give it the appearance of a pumpkin.
Step 4
Cut the pipe cleaners in half. For each ball, take 6 pieces of pipe cleaners and insert 3 on each side to form spider legs.
Step 5
Let dry for 24 hours.
Once your lanterns are dry, you can paint them. Here, we used glossy acrylic paint as it is more durable than gouache and provides a beautiful shiny finish!
Step 6
Shape the legs well once the paint is dry.
Step 7
Finally, add some googly eyes to bring your creations to life!
