Materials

For this activity, you will need:

- wooden coasters

- a bottle of image transfer medium (Créacopie)

- 1 foam brush

- white paint

- a pair of scissors

- a photocopy printed with a laser printer

For the finish, you can use a gloss varnish or coating resin.

Step 1

Make a photocopy (laser printer) in color or black and white of the photos you wish to use to decorate the coasters.

Paint the coasters with white paint and allow to dry. This way, the colors of the photos will be more vibrant.

Cut out the designs, then coat the printed part with the transfer medium.

Step 2

Apply the photo to the medium (printed side against the medium). Then apply a layer of transfer medium to the paper (on the non-printed side).

Thoroughly soak the paper with the transfer to see the photocopy appear through transparency.

Step 3

Once the medium is dry, you can gently moisten the paper using a sponge. This step is the most delicate; you will need to gradually remove the paper, leaving only the photographic film created by the medium at the end.

To do this, gently rub with your finger; you can stop when the photo appears clearly on your support. If some paper appears again after drying, lightly moisten the support to peel off the excess paper once more.

Finish by applying a thin layer of varnish or glazing resin
