Lavender Soaps
Make beautiful lavender soaps.
Enjoy a moment of relaxation and creativity with this simple and sensory activity: create lovely scented lavender soaps, decorated with small dried flowers. A perfect idea to make a handmade gift for the teacher, Grandma, or to scent the drawers at home with a natural touch!
This activity is suitable for children from 6 years, accompanied by an adult for the heating steps. In addition to being fun, it stimulates fine motor skills, observation, and smell… while learning to make useful objects by oneself.
Tip:
You can use other dried flowers (chamomile, rose petals…) to vary the scents and colors. It’s an ideal activity to do in a small workshop or to slip into a handmade gift bag!
Easy and scented activity from 6 years old.
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Step 1
Melting the soap base in a double boiler:
In a double boiler placed over a pot of boiling water, melt the soap base. The double boiler allows for a gentle and even melting process, reducing the risk of burning the material.
Step 2
Add the fragrance:
Once the soap is completely melted, remove it from the heat. Add a few drops of lavender fragrance. Our soap fragrances are made in France, in Grasse, and they are very strong; a few drops are enough. Use a clear plastic pipette for precise dosing.
Mix well with a spoon or spatula to ensure everything is homogeneous.
Step 3
Pour the melted soap into the molds
Carefully pour the still liquid mixture into the silicone mold. Fill each cavity three-quarters full or to the top depending on the size of your molds. Work quickly before the soap starts to set.
Step 4
Decorate with Dried Flowers:
Before the soap hardens, carefully place dried lavender sprigs on the surface. This step adds a natural and aesthetic touch to your soaps. Gently press the flowers if necessary to ensure they adhere well.
Step 5
Allow to cool and unmold:
Let your soaps cool completely at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours. Be careful not to put them in the refrigerator, as a sudden change in temperature can often cause condensation on the surface of the soap, which may also lead to a grainy appearance.
Once fully set, gently unmold them to avoid breaking the edges.
Step 6
Finishing and Suspension:
Drill a small hole using a sharp tool or use a straw. Thread a string through and tie a knot. There you have it, a decorative and fragrant soap ready to give or to hang in the shower!
