Small Heart Linocut Card
Want to create a unique card for a handmade gift? Learn how to print a lovely heart using linocut and make two original cards, perfect for giving to Mom and Dad!
Required Materials:
- A linoleum sheet
- A pencil
- A carving tool
- Linocut ink (black, red, blue…)
- A brayer
- Thick paper or blank cards
- Self-adhesive letters for personalization
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Step 1
Draw the design on the linoleum slab. Use a sharp pencil for precise lines.
Color in the areas that will not be printed, as this is where you will carve the slab in the second step.
Step 2
Carve the linoleum plate following the outline of the heart using a gouge.
The removed areas will not be printed during inking.
Step 3
Spread black ink and red ink on a smooth surface. Then, using a roller, evenly distribute the colors.
Step 4
Roll the ink roller over the linoleum plate using regular movements. The ink adheres only to the raised areas, while the recessed parts remain blank.
Step 5
Gently place a sheet of paper on the inked plate, then press evenly with your hands or using a rolling pin or a spoon to transfer the ink well.
Slowly peel away the sheet to reveal your print: your pattern appears mirrored compared to the engraved plate.
