Painting Supports

The support is the foundation of all artistic creation. Its material, texture, and format influence the final result, the comfort of work, and the technique used. Whether you are conducting a painting workshop with children, a creative leisure activity, or a fine arts piece, choosing the right support allows for better results while enjoying the creative process more. Our selection brings together various supports suitable for all desires: stretched canvases, canvas boards, painting papers, wood or MDF supports, foam boards, as well as other creative supports to personalize.

Which support to choose according to your technique?

Each painting technique has its requirements.

• Stretched canvases and canvas boards are particularly suitable for acrylic painting and works intended to be preserved or exhibited.
• Painting papers are perfect for gouache, watercolor, inks, or school projects due to their absorption capacity.
• For decorative projects or mixed techniques, wood, MDF, or cardboard supports offer excellent rigidity and allow for easy personalization of objects, panels, or paintings.

Choosing an appropriate support facilitates the painting process while enhancing the colors and effects achieved.

Supports for creative leisure and fine arts

Painting supports cater to both children discovering visual arts and fine arts enthusiasts. Small formats are ideal for cards, personalized gifts, or school activities, while large formats allow for creating paintings, murals, or more ambitious compositions. Some supports are also suitable for other techniques such as linocut, collage, drawing, or mixed techniques, thus offering numerous creative possibilities.

Preparing your support for a lasting result

Depending on the chosen material, it may be useful to prepare the surface before painting. Wood or MDF supports particularly benefit from receiving a layer of Gesso for painting preparation, which improves paint adhesion and allows for brighter colors. Once the creation is complete, applying a protective varnish helps preserve the colors and protect the support durably, especially when it is intended for display.

Exhibiting and showcasing your creations

A creation deserves to be presented in the best conditions. Paintings can be set up on easels and display supports or equipped with suitable hanging systems to decorate a classroom, bedroom, workshop, or exhibition space. Pairing the right support with a careful presentation enhances the creations and prolongs the joy of creating.

To carry out your projects under the best conditions, complete your equipment with brushes, palettes, and storage as well as paints suitable for your technique: gouache, acrylic, watercolor, or effect paints.
