3D Chick on a Plate
Using a half polystyrene egg and a cardboard plate, we will create a fun 3D chick for Easter!
Painting, gluing, cutting, and handling caterpillars are all part of this complete and easy creative activity for kids!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make this chick, you will need:
- a cardboard plate
- a half styrofoam egg (15 cm)
- four yellow feathers
- one orange caterpillar
- a bow tie
- two plastic buttons
- fabric flowers
- round adhesive rhinestones
- two googly eyes (Ø 1.8 cm and Ø 2.5 cm)
- a thick orange sheet of paper
- yellow paint and a brush
- a pair of scissors
- adhesive gel dots
- a glue gun
- a wooden skewer
Step 1:
Paint a half-egg made of polystyrene with yellow paint
Then let it dry for about 20 minutes.
Step 2:
Make a hole on each side of the egg using a wooden skewer, then insert the feathers to create the chick's wings.
Step 3:
Pierce two holes at the top of the egg using a wooden skewer, then insert two feathers to create the crest.
Step 4:
Make the legs using an orange chenille by cutting two pieces of 8 cm first, then two more pieces of 4 cm to wrap around the first ones.
Step 5:
Make two holes at the bottom of the egg using a wooden skewer and insert the 2 orange caterpillars to form the legs.
Step 6:
Glue 2 googly eyes (Ø 1.8 cm and Ø 2.5 cm) on the polystyrene egg using adhesive dots.
Step 7:
Cut out the chick's beak from a sheet of orange paper and stick it under the googly eyes using adhesive dots.
Step 8:
Next, glue on a decorative fabric knot and two plastic buttons.
Step 9:
Using a glue gun, glue the chick to the center of the plate.
Step 10:
Glue fabric flowers around the plate, then attach a self-adhesive gem to the center of each one to create a beautiful spring effect for the project.
