How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials
To create a lovely hedgehog, you will need:
- a small white cardboard plate (Ø 15 cm)
- a polystyrene disc (Ø 8 cm)
- acrylic paint (brown and flesh color)
- a brush
- a skewer
- a bundle of natural raffia
- 2 googly eyes (Ø 2.5 cm)
- a colored pom-pom
- a black marker
- adhesive dots
- a strong cardstock base
- a pair of scissors
Step 1
Turn the cardboard plate over and paint it brown.
Paint the polystyrene disk with flesh-colored paint.
Tip: Stick the disk on a stick to make it easier to paint without getting your fingers dirty!
Step 2
Make small holes (about 1 to 1.5 cm deep) spaced 1 to 2 cm apart on the side of the polystyrene disc using a wooden skewer.
Step 3
Cut small pieces of natural raffia and insert them into the holes around the wooden disc to create the spikes of the hedgehog.
Cover about 3/4 of the surface of the wooden disc with the raffia.
Step 4
Cut the plate about 3 cm to create a straight edge.
Step 5
Stick the disc onto the plate using 3 or 4 adhesive dots.
Step 6
Stick two wiggle eyes and a pom-pom using adhesive dots to bring the hedgehog to life.
Draw a smile with a marker.
Note: If you have small round stickers at home, you can stick one under each eye to create cute little cheeks!
Step 7
Practical: To display the children's hedgehogs vertically, you can use our cardboard supports to glue to the back of the creations!
