Sun String Art

To make a sun you will need :

- The printable sun model

- A wooden base (20 x 20 cm) and nails

- A hammer / mallet

- Colored embroidery threads

- Black moving eyes Ø 2.5 cm

- A sheet of thick black paper

- Adhesive dots

- A pair of scissors

To begin, print the sun template here.

Place the template on the wooden support and secure it with a few pieces of tape.

Note: check that the wall mount located behind the wooden support is oriented in the right direction!

Drive the nails using a mallet/hammer by following the template.

Note: the wood of our supports for string art is very soft, allowing children to easily drive the nails without needing to hit too hard with the mallet/hammer.

In total, 60 nails will be hammered corresponding to the 60 circles of the model!

Then remove the paper template from the support to reveal the nails embedded.

With a yellow skein, make a double knot around a first nail located in the central circle.

Then "weave" the thread, making sure to stretch it between the nails located all around the central circle.

Wrap the thread several times around the nails to add volume.

Once the area is well covered, tie a knot around a nail to finish.

Repeat these steps for each ray of the sun, varying the colors.

Once the sun rays are finished, you should get a result similar to this!

Stick the Ø 2.5 cm movable eyes at the center of the sun using adhesive dots.

Cut out a mouth shape from a black sheet, then stick it on with an adhesive dot.
