Transform a simple polystyrene cone into an adorable hen surrounded by her chicks with this easy Easter-themed activity!
Starting with a cardboard plate, a polystyrene cone, and a few feathers, bring to life a pretty hen ready to care for her chicks. The funny eyes, beak, planting legs, and feathers will add a playful touch to your creation. Finish by adding the chenille chicks to complete this spring decoration.
An easy craft, perfect for introducing toddlers aged 3 years and up to Easter creative activities!
How to complete this tutorial step by step?
Materials:
To make a hen, you need:
- a small paper plate
- a polystyrene cone (20cm)
- feathers
- funny eyes to stick on
- beaks and chicken feet to stick on
- green paint + a brush
- silk chenille chicks
- straw
- a strong red card
- a skewer
- universal glue
- a pair of scissors
Step 1:
Paint the small plate with green paint.
Let it dry while completing the other steps.
Step 2:
Attach some googly eyes, a beak, and feet to the polystyrene cone to bring the chicken to life.
Step 3:
Cut out a crest from a strong red cardboard and glue it to the top of the cone.
Step 4:
Make two holes on the side of the cone with a skewer, then insert the feathers.
Step 5:
Apply glue over the entire plate and stick the chicken in the center.
Step 6:
Cut pieces of straw and arrange them all around the hen.
Thanks to the glue applied over the entire plate, the straw will stay in place well.
Step 7:
Finally, add some little chicks to the creation
